Pierce County FARM Board

 

The Pierce County FARM Board was established by Pierce County Ordinance 2006-116s2 to advise the County Executive and Council on policies and programs that promote farmland preservastion, and to administer the Farming Assistance, Revitalization and Marketing (FARM) Program. Current activies of the FARM Board include producing HarvestFEST, an annual farm tour held the first weekend in October to raise awareness of local farmers and farm products, facilitating marketing of local agricultural products and developing recommendations for a food policy for the county. Board membership consists of seven appointed citizens who represent the agricultural and geographic diversity of Pierce County (of which five must be agricultural producers) and four ex-officio members representing Pierce County Planning and Land Services and Economic Development, Pierce Conservation District and WSU Extension. Meetings are open to the public. The Farmbudsman serves as Board Manager/Advisor and primary contact.
